Baby Scrapbook Album
To start off you will need to purchase a safe and an acid free album of your choosing to keep your collection in pristine condition. The size of the album in up to you, a smaller size may be what you want to use as a gift. Page protectors are useful, but they are not necessary.
Spiral bound albums can give it a unique touch by giving it an embellished look, but post bound are just as nice. Next, you may want to give it a topic such as ABC or My First Year, and even make it fanciful, chic, or if you like, a little on the cartoon side.
The next step is to choose your color scheme. Some boy’s colors may be orange, brown, yellow, blue, or green. For a girl, you might go with the same colors plus purple, or black. Coordinate colors in your photographs and patterns to go with your card stock.
Try using double layouts, instead of single layouts, one side for photos and the other for journaling, to keep records of thoughts and feelings. This would be more gratifying. Simple is the next step. Don’t go overboard when decorating your album.
A plain bow, flower, sticker, or tag should be sufficient. When using a small album keep added extras to a minimum because of the tiny space. To give you an idea of what can be used, try stickers, die cuts or cutouts.
These may include, baby buggies, bottles, buttons, and bows, angel wings, plastic safety pins or real safety pins, letter beads, imprints of baby's hands and/ or feet, and assorted stamp images. Check these items out at your local scrapbook store.
When doing the journaling, you may want to use a printer or add a personal touch by using your own hand writing now and again. You might want to use calfskin to print on; it will give your layout a soft appearance and elegance.
To attach the vellum, use vellum glue, brads, staples, ribbon, buttons, tiny safety pins, or eyelets. Larger tags may be used for categorizing. The front cover will need to be adorned, possibly with your baby’s picture.
Cover the front of the album with patterned paper and take a wide piece of ribbon and tie it around the front cover, near the spine of the book. Take your baby’s photo and using transparent paper cover the photo, and then fasten it down. Some albums come with a window where you can insert a picture of your baby.
If you use a spiral album, tie some ribbons into the spirals. After all this is done, embellish the frame and put baby’s name on it and now the cover is finished, ready to put your favorite baby pictures in.
